Welcome to the Official Website for Kent Fire Department

Welcome to the Kent Volunteer Fire Department Web Site. We are located 65 miles North of NYC in Kent Cliffs, Putnam County New York. Our district Covers approximately 30 square miles which of consists of two separate zip codes 10512 for Carmel, and 12533 for Hopewell Jct. Our department is staffed by dedicated volunteers.

The landscape of our community is primarily residential and includes several parks, lake communities and areas of interest. State parks include NYS White Pond Multiple Use Area (a 276-acre State park), The Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park (a 14,086-acre State park) and The California Hill state forest (a 982-acre state park). Our community is also part of the NYC Croton Reservoir and Watershed system which includes The Boyd's Corner Dam and several multi-use properties. Our district is also home to The Chuang Yen Monastery which houses the largest Buddha statue in the western hemisphere. This brings visitors to our community from around the globe. Our district also includes a 2.6-mile portion of the Taconic State Parkway from Route 301 to the Dutchess County line.

Because of the terrain in our district, the Kent Volunteer Fire Department is well equipped and trained to fight brush, and forestry fires. Our department has responded to many of these incidents in past years, because of our members extensive training and experience in these incidents we have been called to many surrounding communities to assist.

We are one of Three departments in Putnam County that utilize lime-yellow trucks which according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) are safer than red fire trucks.
